Protest
Period Extended!
The State Water Resources Control Board originally sent out
public notices on September 13, 2002 about Alaska Water Exports'
applications for water from the Albion and Gualala Rivers. However,
the applicant failed to publish legal notices in local newspapers
as required. Due to that failure, the State Water Resources
Control Board (SWRCB) will re-issue notices (probably in "a
few weeks"), and allow another 60 day comment / protest
period from the date those revised notices are issued.
The SWRCB website provides copies of the original notices, along
with a clarification (dated 10/3/02) of several errors contained
in those original notices, as well as maps submitted by Alaska
Water Exports, and the official protest form.
Please Note that Protests submitted in response to the original
notices will be kept on file and considered by the Board along
with new protests submitted before this new deadline. You can
also ammend your submitted protest form, just be sure that copies
go to the SWRCB and Alaska Water Exports, Inc.
If you are concerned about water rights, water quality, water
privatization or future degradation of our rivers and streams,
please fill out a protest form.
For information on how to fill out a protest form, visit www.gualalariver.org
or www.albionnation.org,
